Greensmith parts ways with M-Sport

Gus Greensmith has parted ways with M-Sport ahead of the 2023 WRC season. The Briton has been driving for M-Sport’s main WRC squad full-time for the last three seasons.

M-Sport confirmed Ott Tänak and Pierre-Louis Loubet as their full-time WRC drivers in the last weeks and announced that Adrien Fourmaux and Grégoire Munster form the team’s WRC2 line-up.

Greensmith has been driving M-Sport Ford rally cars for the last eight years, starting in 2014 with the Ford Fiesta R1. He achieved his career-best result in the WRC at last year’s Safari Rally Kenya, finishing in P4 overall.

“8 years through thick & thin together, I wouldn’t have changed it for the world. To everyone at M-Sport, all I have to say is thank you & ciao for now,” said Greensmith in a post on social media.

M-Sport paid tribute to Greensmith with a video and said in a statement: “Gus, you entered the sport with us 8 years ago, from your first events in an R1 to a Puma Rally1 against the best in the world.

“It’s a sad day, as today, Gus and M-Sport part ways. This isn’t the end or a goodbye. It’s a sincere and heartfelt thanks. All the best for the future.”

It is yet to be revealed where Greensmith’s future lies. He did say, however, that his 2023 programme will be announced “in due course”.
