Solberg confirms 2025 WRC2 programme with a Toyota

Oliver Solberg will switch from a Skoda to a Toyota for next year’s WRC2 season.

Solberg will drive a Printsport-run Toyota GR Yaris Rally2 car in WRC2 2025. The Swede joins forces with the Finnish team that ran Sami Pajari’s Toyota this year en route to the WRC2 title. Pajari has been promoted to a full-time Toyota Rally1 seat for WRC 2025. Solberg missed out on the WRC2 title by just 3 points.

Solberg’s aim for 2025 is clear: “The target for 2025 is definitely to push for the title.”

The 23-year-old shared “leaving Skoda was not an easy decision” after working with the Czech manufacturer for two seasons: “I’m really proud of what we achieved this year and to miss out on the championship by three points definitely hurts.

“But, I’m only looking forward now. Like I said, I’m super-proud of what me and Elliott [Edmondson, co-driver] did and leaving Škoda was not an easy decision – I’m very grateful to everybody from Škoda Motorsport and the whole Toksport team for the last two years.

“The aim now is to try to win as many WRC2 rounds and, of course, the championship next season.”

No comments were made about potential Rally1 opportunities for Solberg. However, driving a Toyota in the WRC2 makes the link to a potential Rally1 outing, like Pajari in 2024, definitely more feasible.
