Hyundai to debut updated i20 N Rally1 at WRC Rally Sweden

Hyundai will bring an updated version of its i20 N Rally1 car to Umeå for this week’s WRC Rally Sweden, round 2 of the 2025 WRC championship.

The Hyundai WRC team will debut its updated i20 N Rally1 car this weekend. The team starts Rally Sweden with a 24-point deficit to Toyota in the Manufacturers’ championship, following a maximum score for Toyota at the opening round of the season in Monte-Carlo.

New Hyundai recruit Adrien Fourmaux finished in P3 behind Toyota’s Sébastien Ogier and Elfyn Evans. Meanwhile, Ott Tänak and Thierry Neuville finished fifth and sixth respectively at the Monte Carlo Rally.

The updated car is not an immediate reaction following the Monte Carlo Rally, however. It’s believed that the team has been working on the updates since the beginning of last season.

Hyundai says its focus on the ‘redeveloped’ i20 N Rally1 was around the suspension layout and weight reduction: “The updated car will retain the current Rally1 chassis but features an overhaul in other areas to maximise efficiency. With a focus on suspension layout and weight reduction, the team has utilised several 2025 jokers in a bid to improve performance across the remainder of the season.”

Rally Sweden kicks off on Thursday morning with shakedown. The real action starts on Thursday evening at 19.05 local time with the Umeå Sprint stage.
