Rally Monza WRC – SS4 red-flagged as Ogier extends lead

Stage four of WRC Rally Monza was stopped mid-stage to allow medical assistance to a spectator. Only five cars completed the stage competitively.

Sébastien Ogier took his third stage win of the day by 0.9s over title rival Elfyn Evans. In the overall standings, Ogier now leads Evans by 6.5s. Neuville set the third fastest time in the 22.11 km long stage, 6.5s shy of Ogier’s pace. The Belgian stays third in the overall standings, 27.2 seconds off the lead.

Kalle Rovanperä and Takamoto Katsuta were the remaining drivers who completed the stage at full speed. Dani Sordo also completed the stage but was required to get off the gas as he was shown the red flag, resulting in a near 7 minute time loss.

All remaining crews will drive through the stage non-competitively. Nominal times are expected to be awarded.

The crews now head to Monza for three circuit-stages (39.27 km in total) in the afternoon to conclude the day.
