Sordo and Solberg to share third Hyundai WRC in 2022

Hyundai Motorsport has finalised its 2022 WRC line-up after confirming Dani Sordo and Oliver Solberg will share the third Hyundai next season.

Sordo is retained by Hyundai for a his ninth consecutive season after joining the team in its debut season back in 2014.

“I have said many times before that Hyundai Motorsport is like a family to me, so I am pleased to continue my career with them into the new hybrid era of WRC”, Sordo said. “I am looking forward to even more to come as we prepare for fresh challenges.”

Solberg joined Hyundai in late 2020 and is competing in Hyundai’s WRC2 team this year. The 20-year-old makes the step-up to the top level of the sport next season on a part-programme sharing the car with Sordo.

Solberg: “It’s a dream come true to be able to climb into the third WRC car to do selected events together with Dani Sordo. I’m only just 20, so it’s a huge step so early in my career. I am excited to drive the new era of car, the Rally1; it’s definitely a special time to be involved in WRC.

Hyundai Team Principal Andreas Adamo: “We think it’s the best compromise between experience and youth, and the ideal mix for a new era of WRC.”

Full time driver Ott Tänak and Thierry Neuville were confirmed to stay at Hyundai earlier this year. Craig Breen left the team to join M-Sport Ford for two seasons.
